Sample Problems and Tasks

The Maths Project platform contains a growing question bank of Problems, Rich Tasks, Discussion Challenges and Teacher-Led Tasks, designed for Years 2-8. All problems are designed to strengthen students’ mathematical thinking, reasoning and problem-solving skills.

The collection covers key areas of primary mathematics, including number and place value, the four operations, fractions, decimals and percentages, patterns and algebra, measurement, geometry, time, money, statistics and probability. Problems are presented in a variety of formats and real-world contexts, helping students connect mathematical ideas and apply their learning in meaningful ways.

Launching with 150+ problems on 1st September. New problems added weekly.

Sample Rich Tasks

Rich Tasks are engaging, real-world mathematical challenges presented in video format. They encourage students to apply their mathematical knowledge to authentic situations, make decisions, test ideas and justify their solutions.

Sample Sample discussion Challenges

Discussion Challenges are short, focused tasks designed to get students talking about mathematics. Similar to problem-solving cards, they encourage students to compare strategies, explain their reasoning and explore important mathematical ideas.
